The Casper Star-Tribune reports that “Gov. Matt Mead said Tuesday he hopes a proposal to increase the buffer between dwellings and oil rigs will prevent an increase in opposition to energy development.”  

“Mead delivered those comments as the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission struggled through the initial details of the plan.”  

The piece continues: “‘As we see conflict, particularly in the southeastern portion of the state, we need to be proactive and address it,’ Mead said. ‘We love the oil and gas development in terms of revenue. But, as (Supervisor Mark Watson) pointed out, somebody will wake up and all of sudden they have an oil rig. What we want make sure we avoid is an overreaction we saw in Colorado.'”
