The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee’s latest ad in North Carolina continues to pummel state Speaker Thom Tillis on education.  

Tillis faces Sen. Kay Hagan, D-N.C., in one of the most competitive Senate races.
The committee’s new ad, provided first to CQ Roll Call, is a direct response to one of Tillis’ ads, which was a rebuttal of a DSCC’s ad attacking him on the same issue . The DSCC ad uses video from the Tillis’s ad, Math, where he stood in front of a classroom white board and talked about how often Hagan voted with President Barack Obama. In the DSCC ad, the numbers on the board look a little different.  

“For Speaker Thom Tillis, the numbers don’t add up. He cut nearly 500 million from schools, froze teacher pay, keeping us near the bottom,” a female narrator says.

“And that pay raise?” she adds. “Only a fraction of one percent for our most experienced teachers, and forced cuts to teaching assistants. But still protected tax breaks for yacht and jet owners.”  

This is the third ad in the DSCC’s $9.1 million ad buy set to run through election day.  

The race is rated Tilts Democratic by the Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.
