Doyle Mum on Richmond’s Status for Congressional Baseball Game
The suspicious substance incident that happened Wednesday in Rep. Mike Doyle’s digs at the Cannon House Office Building was both inconvenient and alarming .
Having said that, it did provide reporters with a chance to ask the manager of the Democrats how the team’s roster was shaping up for the 54th Annual Roll Call Congressional Baseball Game, where they’ll look to continue their recent dominance against the GOP. Capitol Hill sports fans have been wondering whether ace pitcher Cedric Richmond, D-La., would return to the mound after recently undergoing surgery for a shoulder injury. But the Pennsylvania Democrat was tight-lipped.
“We don’t divulge our starting lineup ’til game time,” he answered, when asked if Richmond would be pitching.
The Louisiana ace was wondering about that himself when CQ Roll Call caught up with him in January. Richmond has hurt Republicans from the mound and the plate the past four years, and the Democrats have emerged victorious in each encounter.
It appears fans will have to wait until just before first pitch on June 11 to find out if Richmond is ready to go.
