Pat Tiberi, Bill Pascrell to Ball at Bocce Bash

Reps. Bill Pascrell Jr., D-N.J., and Pat Tiberi, R-Ohio, will attempt to bowl over competitors onJune 1  at the 3rd Annual Congressional Bocce Ball Tournament.  

The sporty showdown, sponsored by the National Italian American Foundation, is scheduled to take place at Venable law firm at 575 Seventh St. NW from 4 to 6:30 p.m. According to event organizers, Pascrell and Tiberi will both field squads — which may be composed of fellow lawmakers Mark Amodei, R-Nev.; Michael E. Capuano, D-Mass.; David Cicilline, D-R.I.; Joe Heck, R-Nev.; Tom Marino, R-Pa.; James. B. Renacci, R-Ohio; and Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y. (“Teams aren’t formed yet,” counseled one House staffer) — as will other attendees.  

“The guest list is not fully booked and congressional staff and political observers are definitely still welcome to join,” an NIAF aide said of the possibility of facing off against fellow ballers.  

Per Team Tiberi, bocce is in the boss’s blood.

“Before he came to Congress he played in a league, on his dad’s team,” a Tiberi aide told HOH of the competitive streak the eight-term lawmaker has been fostering since childhood.  

Those hoping to best any political hurlers may want to brush up on the basics before stepping onto the court.
