House Freedom Caucus members will meet with Speaker Paul D. Ryan, R-Wis., and his staff later this week to discuss appropriations and other matters.

“We just started a discussion last night with Freedom Caucus members,” Freedom Caucus Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, said when asked by CQ Roll Call about Ryan’s comments that the House should use its powers of the purse to include policy riders in an omnibus appropriations bill. “I know we’re talking with the speaker and his staff later this week,” Jordan said, “so we’ll have a better idea. … I’ve had a conversation with one of the appropriations members, so too early to tell.”

Asked if conservatives would continue to push for a rider to defund Planned Parenthood, Jordan said, “We’re looking at all kinds of things.”
