A judge has delayed the sentencing of former House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert to allow two witnesses to testify in the case of a hush-money scheme connected to allegations of possible sexual misconduct.  

A man who alleges he was sexually abused by Hastert as well as the sister of another alleged victim who has since died could be called to testify at Hastert’s sentencing, according to the transcript of a hearing that occurred Tuesday in Chicago.  

The judge delayed sentencing from April 8 because one of the individuals has a schedule conflict — a business trip. The new date is April 27, according to reports.  

The Illinois Republican pleaded guilty in October to evading federal banking reporting requirements stemming from an indictment that alleged he paid $3.5 million in small increments to cover up past, undisclosed misconduct.  

But it was revealed in court that Hastert had been accused of sexual misconduct from when he was a high school wrestling coach and teacher, prior to holding elected office, according to the court transcript that accompanied a Chicago Tribune report on the hearing.
