Whose child is next to follow in a political parent's footsteps? (Bill Clark/CQ Roll Call file photo)

We’re thinking of a state that had two father-son pairs of senators — one pair Democrats and the other pair Republicans. In each father-son pair, the son only served one term. Name the state.

A)  Colorado

B)  New Hampshire

C)  Maryland

D)  Alaska

Bonus points: Name the four senators. Email your answers to HOH@rollcall.com and check back Wednesday for the answer. The first correct answer will get a shout out!

Answer

C) Maryland

Democrats : Millard Tydings served from 1927 to 1951. His son, Joseph Tydings, served a single term from 1965 to 1971.

Republicans : James Glenn Beall represented the Old Line State from 1953 to 1965. His son, John Glenn Beall Jr. served from 1971 to 1977.

Incidentally, Joseph Tydings unseated J. Glenn Beall in the 1964 general election, but was defeated by Beall’s son six years later.

The first correct submission was from Jillian Ramsay Stern in Pennsylvania. Congrats!
