Happy November! We have just one week until Election Day.

What you should do this election is join Roll Call’s Election Predictions Contest to guess the outcomes of the presidential, Senate and House elections. Predict the overall outcome for a chance to win a gift card for whomever comes closest to the actual results.

What you shouldn’t do this election is plan to shop at Patagonia on Nov. 8. As part of the store’s Vote Our Planet initiative, Patagonia is closing all stores nationwide — including the Georgetown branch. People are encouraged to go to the polls and “champion local environmental issues and engage in civil society,” according to press release.

Happening this week…

The American Academy of Actuaries will hold its 2016 Annual Meeting and Public Policy Forum on Thursday and Friday to discuss financial security and social insurance programs. The forum will feature former Sen. Christopher J. Dodd, D-Conn. (Capital Hilton, 1001 16th St. NW)

Shake Shack rolls out holiday specials

As of Nov. 1, Shake Shack has a Brownie Batter Hot Chocolate, which features a blend of bittersweet dark chocolates and rich fudge sauce.  Finished with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles, it’s available at all Shacks throughout the winter season for $3.89. Starting on Nov. 15, seasonal milk shakes — pumpkin pie, Christmas cookie and chocolate peppermint flavors — will be available.

Be a part of the election impact

Register today to join Roll Call Live on Thursday, Nov. 10, for Election Impact Conference 2016: The New American Landscape. Check out the expert speakers and event agenda.

Happy birthday to…
