Rep. Matt Gaetz allegedly hit by former rival in ‘milkshaking’ incident
The drink was allegedly thrown by a former political rival
Rep. Matt Gaetz was hit by a drink cup hurled through the air as he left a town hall this weekend.
As the Trump ally and Fox News personality left the event in Pensacola Saturday and waded through a crowd of protesters, a cup filled with a red liquid sailed through the air and hit him, according to a video of the incident reported by WKRG and posted to Twitter.

“Clearly it takes more than a drink to slow down our great team,” Gaetz said in a tweet.
The drink was allegedly thrown by a former political rival.
Police arrested Amanda Kondrat’yev and charged her with misdemeanor battery for allegedly being behind the projectile, the Pensacola News Journal reported. Kondrat’yev has been released on bail.

In a Facebook fundraiser for legal expenses, Kondrat’yev wrote, “Not sure how much court stuff costs but I was charged with Battery today for allegedly milkshaking Congressman Matt Gaetz.”
A video of the incident posted to Twitter has accumulated over one million views.
Kondrat’yev ran against Gaetz to represent the 1st District in 2016 after Rep. Jeff Miller retired but she eventually withdrew, according to the News Journal.
Gaetz’s father is a former state representative who once led the Florida Senate.
Kondrat’yev did not immediately reply to a request for comment sent to her Facebook page.
Kondrat’yev’s arrest comes as British protesters have captured headlines for drenching rightwing political figures — including Brexit leader Nigel Farage — in milkshakes.
