Rep. Will Hurd ‘honored’ to shave constituent’s head
Lisa Sanders, who lost her daughter in 2007 to a brain tumor, ‘braved the shave’ for cancer research fundraiser
Rep. Will Hurd helped a hometown hero “brave the shave” Tuesday at a fundraiser for childhood cancer research.
The Texas Republican shaved the head of Lisa Sanders from Helotes, Texas, at a “46 Mommas” event hosted by St. Baldrick’s Foundation — a volunteer- and donor-powered charity focused on curing childhood cancer, according to its website.
Hurd posted a video to social media with Sanders, who lost her daughter to a brain tumor in 2007, before doing the honors of shaving off all her hair.
“I promised her I’d try to find a cure in whatever way possible,” Sanders says in the video.
Hurd, moved by her story, gave her a hug. “It’s an honor for me to shave your head,” he told her.
What an honor to see #46Mommas including Lisa Sanders from #Helotes #BravetheShave for their children and all children who have suffered from cancer. Thank you @StBaldricks for the hard work you’re doing, and I’ll continue to support the Childhood Cancer STAR Act in the House. pic.twitter.com/jmOHgUG9iH

The 46 Mommas is a group of moms of children diagnosed with cancer. They were advocating on Capitol Hill this week for funding for childhood cancer research, according to a Facebook post.
