House Minority Whip Steny H. Hoyer is expected to make a “full recovery quickly” after being hospitalized for pneumonia. Hoyer was hospitalized Tuesday at the George Washington University Hospital for pneumococcal pneumonia, spokeswoman Katie Grant said a statement.“He is being treated with antibiotics and resting, and is expected to make a full recovery quickly,” she said. “He looks forward to being back at work very soon.”The Maryland Democrat is No. 2 in the minority party’s leadership and is considered to be the likely successor to Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.Hoyer makes frequent campaign appearances for Democratic candidates. His spokeswoman told Politico that a weekend trip to Wisconsin and Illinois was his 25th trip of this election cycle. Hoyer served as House majority leader from 2007 to 2011.
