The newspaper featured a letter from a woman named Christine Byrne, who wrote about witnessing an act of kindness from the senator toward an elderly woman in a Washington airport. The 72-year old senator hopped off the shuttle bus to walk with a woman who seemed jarred by a bumpy plane ride. Here is an excerpt: Sen. King stopped to assist an elderly woman, who was a bit confused in the bustle. As I passed them, I overheard him asking her if they should go together up the stairs or in the elevator and I smiled to myself, knowing she was in good hands.
