A major contributor to Republican causes wrote at least $3 million in checks to super PACs in the months before his death. Homebuilder Bob J. Perry of Perry Homes, who died April 13, contributed $2 million on March 1 to the Texans for a Conservative Majority, a hybrid super PAC supporting Republicans. Also giving to the new PAC were John L. Nau III (CEO, Silver Eagle Distributors, Texas) $125,000; and $100,000 from WD Partners LP (Texas) including Ed Bass, Lee Bass and Sid Bass. Perry also gave $1 million on Feb. 13 to the Senate Conservatives Action super PAC. Also contributing were Richard Uihlein (CEO, Uline Corporation, Ill.) $100,000; and Mountaire Corporation (Ark.) $100,000. The PAC spent $319,797 this year against Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark. (more…)
