The Eagle Has Landed

Future Congressman Meets a Living Legend

Talk about a friend in high places. When Sherrod Brown received his Eagle Scout award in 1967, he got to meet none other than famous American astronaut John Glenn.

Brown, now a Democratic Representative from Ohio, was a student at Mansfield High School at the time. Five years earlier, Glenn had become the first American to orbit the Earth.

The pair would eventually serve together in Congress. Brown was elected to the House in 1992, the same year Glenn, also a Democrat, was re-elected to his last term representing Ohio in the Senate.
