The Congressional Economic Leadership Institute recently snagged David Klaus to serve as its president and chief executive officer.

Klaus comes to the nonpartisan economic and international trade policy educational organization after a stint as director of the office of management and administration at the Energy Department.

He earlier completed tours of duty as counsel to the Energy and Commerce Committee and as staff in the executive office of the president during the Carter administration.

The Stanford University graduate later went on to earn a law degree from Georgetown University Law School and spent a decade in private law practice.

Lawrence Leaves. The Senate Intelligence Committee bids adieu to former counsel Mary Pat Lawrence, who has joined Van Scoyoc Associates Inc. as director of government relations and counsel.

The Capitol Hill veteran previously served as legislative counsel to Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) and worked for the re-election campaign of Alabama’s senior Senator, Richard Shelby (R), in 1997.

A member of the University of Alabama’s class of 1997, Lawrence later received her law degree from that institution.

She is a member of the Alabama State Bar.
