Foley first served on the board from 1995 until his appointment as ambassador to Japan in 1997. He was reappointed in 2002. He represented the 5th district from 1965 to 1995, including a stint as Speaker beginning in 1989 and ending following his failed bid for re-election in 1994.

In addition to his term as Jimmy Carter’s vice president, Mondale has also served as Senator from Minnesota, U.S. ambassador to Japan and Minnesota attorney general.
