Newt, the Early Years

In August 1980, then-Rep. Newt Gingrich (R) was a lowly freshman lawmaker from Georgia. Few could have predicted he would one day be Speaker of the House, third in line for the presidency. But even then he had a faithful staff, which included aide Nancy Bocskor (far right), who has hung on to the above photograph. These days, Gingrich chairs a communications and consulting firm called the Gingrich Group and speaks out on a variety of topics, including health care. Bocskor, meanwhile, runs The Nancy Bocskor Co., a fundraising and political consulting firm that specializes in fundraising for Members of Congress and training for incumbents, candidates and campaign workers.
