Gillmor Update

While initial speculation suggested that Rep. Paul Gillmor (R-Ohio) died of a heart attack last week, an autopsy concluded that the 68-year-old lawmaker likely passed away after falling down the stairs of his Arlington, Va., home. [IMGCAP(1)]

A statement Friday from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the Northern Virginia District said the examination of Gillmor “showed significant injury to the head consistent with a fall down stairs.” The statement added that police and Medical Examiner’s Office personnel “have assessed the scene and have found no evidence of foul play,” and that “the death is certified as accidental blunt head and neck trauma.”

Funeral services for Gillmor are scheduled to be held Tuesday at the Statehouse in Columbus, Ohio.
