‘Music for the Vendors’ Benefits Eastern Market
The Countertop Quartet, a Washington, D.C.-based vocal group, will perform a concert to benefit Eastern Market at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Capitol Hill at 8 p.m. Saturday. The show, titled “Seraphic Flames — Music for the Vendors of Eastern Market, in DC,” will feature soprano, alto and countertenors accompanied by an organ.
Tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for students who purchase the tickets in advance online; children under 14 can attend for free. All proceeds will go to the Capitol Hill Community Foundation’s efforts to rebuild the historic market, which was severely damaged in an April 30 fire.
This is the second show the band has done to benefit Eastern Market. The first took place in June at the Church of the Reformation. So far the band has raised $550 for the market, with hopes of raising an additional $1,450.
Tickets will be available at the door or online at countertopquartet.org.
