Eastern Market One of 10 Best Neighborhoods

The Eastern Market neighborhood will be honored at a ceremony today as one of the American Planning Association’s 10 best neighborhoods in the country to live in.

According to an APA press release, “Eastern Market is a model for its citizen involvement and dedication to building a strong, vibrant and diverse community within the nation’s capital.”

Mayor Adrian Fenty and Ward 6 Councilman Tommy Wells (D) will both be present at the ceremony, which will take place at 9 a.m. in the North Hall of historic Eastern Market.

Neighborhoods were chosen for being particularly rich in cultural, economic and social diversity, according to the APA. Architecture, accessibility and community involvement also were factors.
