Honda’s Peace Corps Years

[IMGCAP(1)] In 1965, future Rep. Mike Honda (D-Calif.) took a break from college to volunteer for the Peace Corps. Honda served for two years in El Salvador, where he is pictured above (third from right). Following his Peace Corps stint, Honda returned to California to earn bachelor’s degrees in biological science and Spanish, in which he was fluent, from San Jose State University. Honda also holds a master’s degree in education from San Jose State.
