Kansas: Cheney to Raise Money for Moore’s Opponent

State Sen. Nick Jordan (R), hoping to upend Rep. Dennis Moore (D) in the 3rd district, is bringing Vice President Cheney to the Sunflower State to raise money for him.

Cheney is scheduled on Friday to headline the Jordan fundraiser, which is being billed as a campaign kickoff celebration. The event is set to occur at a private home in Leawood. The eastern Kansas 3rd district encompasses much of the Kansas City suburbs.

Moore is serving his fifth term in the Republican-leaning district and has weathered several GOP attempts to take him down. Last year, he beat businessman Chuck Ahner (R) by 31 points.

However, Jordan is the first candidate in several years who appears to have the support of both moderate and conservative Republicans in the 3rd district. The GOP says Jordan’s ability to unite Kansas Republicans in this district — the party’s infighting has aided Moore’s victories over the years — could help Republicans finally put an end to Moore’s reign.
