Steering Set

Steering Set. The House Republican Steering Committee will meet the week of Feb. 11 to decide who will get the Appropriations Committee seat left vacant by the Senate appointment of Rep. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) announced Tuesday.

[IMGCAP(1)]More than a handful of Republicans are vying for the seat, including Reps. Jo Bonner (Ala.), Henry Brown (S.C.), Marilyn Musgrave (Colo.), Michael Turner (Ohio) and Dave Reichert (Wash.).

National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Tom Cole (Okla.) also is seeking the seat.

A return to fiscal discipline has been a running theme for those campaigning for the vacancy.
