The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies on Tuesday will present House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) with the Louis E. Martin Great American award. [IMGCAP(1)]

Past recipients of the award, which seeks to honor “individuals whose work embodies a lifelong commitment to improving the human condition” according to a release, include Ways and Means Chairman Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.), former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter and Muhammad Ali and Vernon Jordan.
