Florida: Foes Reminding Voters of Feeney-Abramoff Link

Florida Democrats on Wednesday marked the one-year anniversary of Rep. Tom Feeney’s (R) outing as “Representative No. 3” with an ad buy highlighting his connection to disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

Democrats bought a week’s worth of ads on targeted Web outlets, including RollCall.com, FloridaToday.com, FortReport.com and BrevardCountyMoms.com.

“The fact is that Feeney went on a lavish golfing trip to Europe paid for by this super-lobbyist instead of doing his job for the people of Florida,” state Democratic spokesman Mark Bubriski said. “The odds that 2008 ends up being Tom Feeney’s last year in Congress, whether because of electoral defeat or legal recourse, increase with every passing day.”

Feeney likely will face ex-state Rep. Suzanne Kosmas (D) in November. The state Democratic Party has taken the lead in hammering the incumbent this cycle, launching Feeneysfullofit.com.
