Party Problems

At the request of Republican Study Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (Texas), House Republicans will hold a special meeting this week as the GOP continues to take stock of where the party is headed following a string of special election losses.

[IMGCAP(1)]Hensarling and his colleagues are set to meet 11:30 a.m. Tuesday to discuss “how best to go forward and define House Republicans,” according to a letter sent to RSC members on Friday.

“All RSC Members are asked to attend this important conference, and if needed, make plans to fly in the night before in order to be there,” Hensarling wrote. “The RSC will present ideas for a Conference action plan.”

Last week, House Minority Leader John Boehner (Ohio) and his fellow GOP leaders rolled out an agenda blueprint titled “Change You Deserve,” as they also acknowledged they must do a better job of communicating their message to voters.
