Deal on Nominations in Offing

Democratic sources close to the situation said Wednesday evening that a deal to approve President Bush’s nominations may soon be reached.

The nominations battle tied up the Senate all afternoon as Republicans angry about the delay forced the clerk to read the entire global warming bill’s substitute amendment instead of deal with normal business.
