Police Find Suspicious Package

Capitol Police are investigating a suspicious package near the Russell Senate Office Building steps and have blocked off the streets near Upper Senate Park.

The package was found at about 1:30 p.m. outside the Rotunda door, said Capitol Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider. However, she said the Russell Building has not been evacuated.

Police have blocked off Constitution Avenue between 1st Street Northeast and New Jersey Avenue as well as the block of Delaware Avenue in front of the Russell Building.
