Kansas: Hunter Lends Hand to His Ex-Colleague Ryun

Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) spent the past weekend campaigning for former Rep. Jim Ryun (R), who is trying to get back his old job representing the 2nd district after losing in 2006.

But before focusing on Democratic incumbent Rep. Nancy Boyda, Ryun must first get by state Treasurer Lynn Jenkins in the Aug. 5 GOP primary — which is far from a sure thing.

“I’ve worked with Jim Ryun and have seen his commitment, dedication and hard work first-hand,” Hunter said in a statement released by Ryun’s campaign. “Kansans can trust him to be strong on immigration reform and to advocate on behalf of our armed forces and that is why I am actively supporting his candidacy.”

Hunter is retiring from Congress this year after running an unsuccessful race for the Republican presidential nomination.
