Kennedy to Leave Hospital

Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) is set to be released today from the Duke University Medical Center, where he underwent surgery for a malignant brain tumor.

According to a statement released by the Senator’s press office, Kennedy is scheduled to return to his home in Hyannis Port, Mass, a week after his surgery. The statement said the Massachusetts lawmaker is recovering and will soon begin chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

“Senator Kennedy is returning to his home in Hyannis Port today. His doctors are pleased with his progress since surgery a week ago, and he will continue to recuperate at home before starting the next phase of his treatment,” the statement said.

The Massachusetts lawmaker suffered a seizure in May, which prompted tests that revealed he had a brain tumor.
