Alaska: Club for Growth Hits Young With Two Ads

he ClubForGrowth.net has purchased a $100,000 ad buy against Rep. Don Young (R). The two spots, which criticize Young for his comments on increasing the gas tax, will run statewide for two weeks on broadcast and cable, according to the organization.

The Club for Growth has endorsed Young’s Republican primary opponent, Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell (R).

The two ads are each 15 seconds long and include comments from Young during a Transportation Committee Hearing in May, according to the ClubForGrowth.net.

“I’d suggest we raise the taxes to a dollar a gallon,” Young says in a clip in one of the ads. “That makes you put your money where your mouth is.”

A voice-over then asks viewers to call Young about the gas tax and lists his phone number.

“Perhaps Don Young can afford a dollar a gallon gas tax on top of $4 a gallon gasoline, but most Alaskans can’t and they deserve to know what kind of tax hike their Congressman is promoting,” ClubForGrowth.net President Pat Toomey said.
