Missouri: Hoyer Will Headline Fundraiser for Barnes

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) will host a $5,000-per-head Capitol Hill fundraiser for former Kansas City Mayor Kay Barnes (D) on July 29. Barnes, who is challenging Rep. Sam Graves (R), has kept financial pace with the incumbent so far this cycle, raising $1.4 million through April 1.

Graves brought in $1.57 million, closing out the first quarter with $1.13 million — roughly $200,000 more than Barnes.

Unlike most other federal candidates, who had to turn in their latest campaign finance reports this week, Barnes and Graves have an extra week to file their report because of Missouri’s Aug. 5 primary.

Neither candidate has opposition in the primary.
