Colorado: Shafroth Touts Rocky Endorsement in TV Ad

Environmental activist Will Shafroth is up with his second television ad, hoping to capitalize on the Rocky Mountain News endorsing him in the 2nd district Democratic primary over his two higher-profile opponents.

He is aiming to upset frontrunners Joan Fitz-Gerald, the former state Senate President, and Jared Polis, a wealthy Internet entrepreneur who has spent freely on his campaign. Shafroth is running this new ad on cable television only in a buy his campaign describes as “substantial.”

“The Rocky Mountain News knows the change we need,” the 30-second ad’s voice-over begins.

The 2nd district is solid Democratic territory, and the winner of the Aug. 12 primary should cruise to victory in November. Rep. Mark Udall (D) is running for Senate.
