House GOP Back for More Energy Speeches

House Republicans plan to reprise their Friday floor revolt on Monday, with a dozen GOP lawmakers so far confirmed to participate in the protest against Democratic opposition to expanded offshore oil drilling. The action is set to kick off at 10 a.m., said Nick Simpson, spokesman for Minority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.). It is not yet clear whether the protest will continue into the week, though Simpson said it was possible. Some Republicans on Friday refused to leave the House floor after Democrats adjourned for the August recess. Instead they remained there in the dark, and after C-SPAN cameras stopped rolling, giving speeches on energy to tourists in the galleries and on the floor.
