Minnesota Democrats aren’t letting the GOP take over the state during the Republican National Convention.

At least one member of the Minnesota delegation is planning an alternative to the GOP festivities. Rep. Betty McCollum is hosting a small-dollar event Sept. 3 at Mancini Char House & Lounge from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. near the convention site in St. Paul, Minn.

McCollum is trying to “harness the momentum” of Democrats during the convention, according to her spokeswoman Cleve Mesidor. McCollum is expecting around 400 people to pay $35 to attend and will have areas broadcasting the GOP convention.
