Congressional Softball Season Ready to Wrap Up

The No Talent AZ Clowns won the Paul Myers Championship Trophy for the second year in a row at the Congressional Softball League’s tournament on Saturday.

The Clowns beat Raising Arizona 15-4 in an all-Arizona final game, while the Yellow Journalists took third place and the All Vols came in fourth. The event marked the 30th anniversary of the tournament and concluded the Congressional league’s season.

The Senate Softball League also held its tournament on Saturday, where Well Swung triumphed over the RBIs of TX 16-6. The Heritage Tools and Hawk & Dove qualified for the semifinal round, but lost to Well Swung and the RBIs of TX, respectively.

The Senate league will wrap up its season on Sunday at 1 p.m. when top players from the House league take on top Senate leaguers in the 2008 All-Star game. Afterward, Well Swung will challenge the Blue Pups, the 2008 House league champions, in the “King of the Hill” game.

Both games will be held at Randall fields, located at the intersection of South Capitol Street and I Street Southwest.
