Senate Democrats to Meet With Paulson

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Wednesday that Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson will attend a meeting with Democrats to talk about the administration’s plan to aid Wall Street firms, but he gave few details for the rest of the week.

The meeting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., with Paulson to arrive at 5 p.m., Reid said.

In his opening statement Wednesday morning, Reid did not discuss the fluid schedule for the remainder of the week, as lawmakers look to return home. He listed the continuing resolution, the financial bailout proposal and a second stimulus package as items to pass before departing.

Reid did say that he would allow his colleagues to watch the first presidential debate between Sens. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.), signaling that lawmakers may be working late Friday night.
