Dodd Says Issues Now in Legislative Form

Coming out of a late Thursday night meeting with administration officials, Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Chairman Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) said he is taking legislative language to his colleagues to see if it is acceptable. “This is just important language. It isn’t just principles,” Dodd said, emphasizing that the negotiations have progressed to where they are talking about details. The meeting brought together Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, Senate Budget ranking member Judd Gregg (R-N.H.) and House Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) to try to resolve further issues and bring shape to some of their agreements. Staff will meet again Friday morning to put into legislative language any agreements Members reached with Paulson.
