111th Congress to Convene on Jan. 6

The House on Monday narrowly voted to allow lawmakers to adjourn for the rest of the year.

The resolution, passed 213-211, clears the way for House Members to leave until the start of the 111th Congress. Per a resolution passed Sunday night, the next Congress will convene on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, and the electoral vote count will occur on Jan. 8.
