California: New Andal Ad Attacks McNerney on Energy

Former state Assemblyman Dean Andal (R), hoping to oust Rep. Jerry McNerney (D) in the Republican-leaning 11th district, has unveiled a new television ad that focuses on gas prices.

The 30-second spot, which is running on broadcast and cable, does not specifically attack McNerney, although it does criticize Congress generally.

“When gas prices soared this summer, Congress took a five-week vacation, then passed a phony energy plan that papers called a fraud and a sham that won’t expand domestic supplies,” Andal says as the ad opens. “For real energy independence, we need to do it all.”

Despite the Republican lean of the central California district and McNerney’s generally liberal voting record during his first term, House race prognosticators expect the incumbent Congressman to win the race. McNerney recently won the endorsement of Andal’s hometown newspaper, the Stockton Record.
