Pelosi to Warm Up to Google

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced Friday that she will take part in a “fireside chat” with Google employees on Monday.

The “chat” will focus on Democratic leaders’ “renewed commitment to basic research” and on their support for promoting innovation through math, science and technology. Democrats have been pushing a broader technology and innovation agenda since assuming the majority two years ago.

Pelosi’s event will take place at 3:45 p.m. at Google headquarters in Mountain View, Calif. Google chief executive officer Eric Schmidt will moderate. Pelosi will also be given a tour of “Googleplex” by senior Google executives.
