Funeral Set for Durbin’s Daughter

Private funeral services for Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin’s (D-Ill.) daughter will be held Thursday in suburban Maryland.

Christine Ann Durbin died Saturday from complications related to a congenital heart condition. She is survived by her parents; her husband, Marty Johnson; and her son, Alex.

“Chris was a remarkable woman who was deeply committed to her family and deeply loved in return. The Durbin family is so grateful and has been touched by the outpouring of sympathy and support from those who have sent along their prayers and good wishes,” Durbin spokesman Joe Shoemaker said.

The family requests that people wishing to send flowers instead make a charitable donation to the Children’s Heart Institute, Adult Congenital Heart Research, Children’s National Medical Center at 111 Michigan Ave. NW, Washington, D.C., 20010.

The funeral services later this week are closed to the public.
