Shadegg Fends Off Challenge

Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.) held on to win re-election Tuesday night, despite being heavily targeted for defeat by national Democrats. With 90 percent reporting, the Associated Press has called the race for Shadegg, who was ahead by a margin of 54 percent to 42 percent over Democrat Bob Lord. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee spent more than $2 million trying to defeat Shadegg, who initially announced he would retire this cycle and then reversed course.
