Post-Election Changes Hitting K Street

In days following the November elections, two prominent trade association chiefs have decided to step aside.

Former Montana Gov. Marc Racicot is leaving the American Insurance Association, effective Feb. 1. The one-time Republican Party chairman spent more than three years as president and chief executive officer, leading the powerful property-casualty trade association. Leigh Ann Pusey, currently the trade group’s chief operating officer and senior vice president for government affairs, will replace Racicot.

Prior to joining AIA, Pusey served as communications coordinator for then-Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) and was deputy director of communications for the Republican National Committee.

Frank Bowman also resigned Friday as president and CEO at the Nuclear Energy Institute. Bowman has been at the energy organization almost four years. Bowman cited the change in the Congress and the White House as the reasons for his departure.

Marvin Fertel, NEI executive vice president and chief nuclear officer, is leading the organization during the transition period.
