Leahy, Holder to Meet on Monday

Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) will meet Monday morning with Eric Holder, President-elect Barack Obama’s nominee for attorney general.

Holder’s nomination is the most controversial of Obama’s picks because he was involved with former President Bill Clinton’s decision to pardon billionaire Marc Rich. Leahy, however, maintains that Holder is qualified for the job and that he is simply taking the first step in the vetting process.

Leahy sent Holder a bipartisan committee questionnaire Friday that likely touches on the Rich pardon.
