Obama Taps More Hill Liaisons

The Obama White House is continuing to recruit Congressional staffers to help press its case on Capitol Hill.

Jon Samuels — who was deputy director of floor operations for House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) until he left this summer to join the Obama campaign — is the latest recruit, senior Democratic sources confirmed. Samuels and Alejandro Perez, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s (D-Md.) floor director, will be lobbying their former bosses as deputies on Obama’s House outreach team.

Both aides report to Dan Turton, until recently the majority staff director on the House Rules Committee. The office will be headed by Philip Schiliro, formerly chief of staff to Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.).
