Rep. Christopher Murphy’s Chief Moves to GE

General Electric, the nation’s fifth-largest company, has snagged a top Democratic Hill staffer to round out its GOP-heavy lobbying practice.

Joshua Raymond, Rep. Christopher Murphy’s (D-Conn.) chief of staff, will work under veteran Republican operative Nancy Dorn in GE’s Washington, D.C., office.

Dorn, who worked for three Republican presidents going back to Ronald Reagan, was an aide to former Vice President Dick Cheney and ex-Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.).

The company declined to confirm the hire publicly but announced internally in an e-mail earlier this week that Raymond was coming on board.

“I am pleased to announce [that] Josh Raymond will be joining the corporate government relations team as Senior Manager, Government Relations, reporting to me,— Dorn wrote in an e-mail on May 4. “Josh will take on a portfolio of key issues for the company, drawing on his wealth of experience in financial services, and matters in the jurisdictions of the Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce Committees.—
