Maryland: No Reason Not to’ Run for Re-Election, Bartlett Says

If his bid to become the ranking member on the House Armed Services Committee wasn’t evidence enough, Rep. Roscoe Bartlett (R), who turned 83 on Wednesday, made it clear this week that he’ll be seeking a 10th term in 2010.

“I’m running,— he said Tuesday in a brief interview on Capitol Hill. “No reason not to.—

Bartlett’s comments came a day after Democrat Andrew Duck announced he would run for a third time against Bartlett.

Duck, an Iraq War veteran, lost the Democratic primary to former Frederick Mayor Jennifer Dougherty last year. He took just 38 percent against Bartlett in 2006. Bartlett beat Dougherty 58 percent to 39 percent in 2008.
