Florida: Feeney to Headline Money Event for Posey

Former Rep. Tom Feeney (R), who lost his seat in part because of ties to disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff, is staying involved in Congressional politics these days by hosting a fundraiser later this month for freshman Rep. Bill Posey (R).

The $250-per-person event at a private home in Oviedo drew the ire of the state Democratic Party on Monday.

“Maybe Tom Feeney will invite Jack Abramoff to fund the DNA testing needed to see if Bill Posey is really part alligator,— state Democratic Party spokesman Eric Jotkoff quipped.

The statement was a nod to comedian Stephen Colbert, who, after Posey introduced his much-maligned presidential birth certificate bill, demanded that Posey undergo testing to prove that he’s not part reptile.
