Kansas: Moran/Tiahrt Senate Primary a Tossup

Two House Republicans are still in a dead heat in the Kansas Senate race, according to new polling data. Sen. Sam Brownback is stepping down in 2010 to run for governor, creating a competitive GOP primary between Reps. Jerry Moran and Todd Tiahrt for his seat.

Moran and Tiahrt garnered 40 percent and 38 percent, respectively, among likely Republican voters in the poll. Another 22 percent of those surveyed were undecided.

The SurveyUSA poll, paid for by local news stations, interviewed 1,295 registered voters and 453 GOP likely voters from June 12-14. The poll had a margin of error of 5 points.
